  The Ernst Fuchs Center

Art Posted by <Xnoubis> on Thursday December 20, @05:04PM
from the wings-of-his-brush dept.

To my mind's eye, no one depicts Gnosis like Ernst Fuchs. This Austrian artist is perhaps best known as one of the founders of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. I think of him as the foremost living prophet of paint, whose work is at times reminiscent of Dali and Bosch, yet exceeds them both in visionary power and clarity. The web is far too limited a medium to convey much of a sense of his obsessively detailed creations, but even at low resolution, images of his paintings, etchings, and sculptures inspire awe. I was unaware, until finding this official home page, that he works in architectural design as well.

But the best surprise was finding that he took the time to create an icon for us to call our own.

Fuchs is ok. For surrealism I prefer Arik Brauer and Pavel Tchelitchew.

Yes

Brauer and Tchelitchhew are O.K
but for supra-sensationalistic surrealism, succumb
to This…www.mcescher.com

I Know, I Know, not considered classicaly surrealism- However, If Dali were anal-retentive
I think he would appreciate it.
