  Wanted: Ritual Audio Recordings

Art Posted by Raquel De Grimstone on Wednesday January 09, @07:24AM
from the sounding-the-depths dept.

Furthering my research into the occult, and at the same time looking for audio clips to use for my own audio creations, I am wondering if any of you have access to audio cassettes or CDs or even Mp3s with spoken word content involving occult subject matter, even better if it is your own invocations or workings. At the moment I have the Aleister Crowley 12“s (two different editions but the same recordings) which I think has also been released as The Great Beast Speaks, on CD. My friend just found 6 hours on cassette of Isreal Regardie going through a bunch of topics. If you have anything you would like to share, we could make a swap, for some vinyl or CDs from my own body of work.

In the mean time I have just uploaded 9 new tracks on mp3 into the news section of my site (in the unreleased tracks page) which include a 6 minute homage to John Lydon's “Religion” a cappella, putting it into a more modern context.

Thanks and Happy New Year –
Raquel De Grimstone

Strangely enough, I was just on the trail of the same thing. I found a bunch of stuff through google under “chant audio” search criteria. There's a bit of stuff to wade through, but I eventually picked out a bunch of great buddhist chants (you know the ones, they do that deep throat rumbling thing that sounds sooo very crazy), and a couple Gregorian chants. I put them to light ritual last night and, as should have been expected, there was a vibrant new component to be found in an otherwise routine ritual.

You shouldn't have any trouble finding something, but if for some reason you do, you can contact me and Ill get ya the ones i have. If ya find anything else (like the chant from the ritual scene in Eyes Wide Shut for instance) please let me know.

oh, I can imagine, music plays an important role in setting a mood. Amazing the difference it can make when you watch a film with music over it that\\
doesn't correspond (on purpose) - the whole context can shift…\\
interesting in Parson's bio. that he always notes what music he was listening to during his operations..\\
\\
thanks for the info, although I like some of Kubricks other films, Eyes Wide Shut was a disappointment for me….especially since a Scientologist played the main role!\\

Just recently I've actually been making use of many of the online radio stations. There's one in particular at somafm called the drone zone: it's all ambient with little percussion. There's another station with just percussion. I believe shoutcast and somafm are the bigger one's (linked somehow too I believe). The stations are nice because they introduce a variable to the ritual equation: you don't know what you're going to get, so the inner exploration gets compounded with this audio exploration.\\

I don't have any sounds for you but just wanted to say your site is very cool! I hope to catch your performance if you do end up playing in L.A.
Thanks for the great link.

There's some Ebony mp3s floating around, with more on the way last I heard.

From my own lousy catalog, “14”, a reading of the 14th Aethyr from 418, is available at http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/670/670592.html
