Uganda Not Like Jonestown

J. Gordon Melton, who always brings a level-headed perspective to any media discussion of “cults”, has posted an article about Uganda's “Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God” over at CESNUR. Since the body count in Uganda wound up exceeding that of the People's Temple murder/suicides, the media have drawn many parallels between the two groups. Melton points out the fundamental differences as well as the similarities, and provides an interesting overview of both tragedies.
