  Reguli VSM

Magick Posted by <Xnoubis> on February 17, 2001 @ 11:41 AM
from the viabolical dept.

What follows are visualizations intended to be used in conjunction with Liber V vel Reguli, the Ritual of the Mark of the Beast. They are inspired by Stafford Beer's Viable System Model (VSM), and constitute a beginning attempt at incorporating this model into a ritual framework.

I've been using these visualizations as part of my Highlie Effectif Demons class at Thelema Lodge. So far, I'm very pleased with the results, in that they channel the power of Reguli in a practical direction. I certainly wouldn't call it an improvement over the original, but it's a useful tool for Malkuth Magick.

In the North, trace the averse invoking pentagram of Air, vibrate “Nuit,” make the sign of Puella. From this, absorb the knowledge of what is outside you and what is in the future. Absorb the knowledge of how to get what you need from the world. Absorb the knowledge of whether your actions are leading to the results you want.

In the South, trace the averse invoking pentagram of Fire, vibrate “Hadit,” make the sign of Puer. From this, absorb the ability to direct your actions, the ability to prioritize, and the ability to break down your goals into achievable tasks.

In the East, trace the averse invoking pentagram of Earth, vibrate “Therion,” make the sign of Vir. From this, absorb the strength and dedication to persist in your tasks.

In the West, trace the averse invoking pentagram of Water, vibrate “Babalon,” make the sign of Mulier. From this, absorb sensitivity to your peers, and let all the constituent parts of yourself become integrated in awareness of one another.

In the center, trace the Mark of the Beast, vibrate “Aiwass,” and absorb knowledge of your Will. Trace the invoking hexagram of the Beast. Strike the ground, make the sign of Mater Triumphans, vibrate “Thelema,” and feel your Will being accomplished.

I'll bite. What does “absorb the X” mean. Could you give a detailed description of the process?

Nothing too complicated. Visualize that the X is before you. Visualize that the X moves into you and becomes one with you. At first, it's a mind game. With practice, it becomes more than that.\\

The question remains as to how I am supposed to visualize these abstract concepts. What do they look like or what is the formula for their description?\\

It's not to be a jerk. It's to clarify.\\

Wow! That was fast.\\
\\
I don't see how I could describe how it would be done, or what they would look like to you. Maybe the only thing I can add, if this isn't a kind of practice that you're accustomed to, is to first meta-visualize. Silently assert to yourself that you can visualize abstract concepts. Then assert to yourself that you are visualizing X before you right now. Whatever that thing is before you, pixels on your retina or whatever, it has been magically transformed into that abstract concept by your act of will. Then feel it enter you.\\
\\
In my case, after a few tries, I would sense that, say, “knowledge of what was outside me and in my future” was before me. Then it would enter me, and suddenly I was aware of things out there in the world and upcoming possibilities that I hadn't been aware of before. And so forth for the other qualities.\\
\\
Maybe other people would find it more effective to embody the particular quality as a one-horned one-eyed flying purple people eater or something. For me, the pentagram (or Mark of the Beast, or the baby resting in the arm during Mater Triumphans) is enough.\\
\\
I hope that's some help. I'm not trying to be deliberately obscure.\\
