  Occulture Vultures

With Magick fests few and far between in merrie England, Occulture 2001 from Monday 25th June to Saturday 30th in Brighton is greatly appreciated. So get your Thelemic war boots on and head to the beach for six nights of talks and cinematographic edification.

Monday 25th Colin Wilson the Daddy of existential Magick musings, serial killers and sex crimes kicks things off. Don’t let his patchy biography of Crowley put you off, this man has quite a mind perched atop his neck.

Tuesday 26th Witchcraft 70 Ralph Harvey. He’s a Sussex Witch and Pagan Exorcist (whatever that means). Haven’t met the man, but he’s talking about witchploitation flicks so it should be fairly jolly with good visuals.

Wednesday 27th and it starts to get hardcore with Chaos Magick bod and current head of the IOT Dave Lee. The very excellent Ramsey Dukes is in support. Probably the best night of the series.

Thursday 28th The Gurdjieff Work. Despite nagging doubts that the speaker will just run off with the money or get us to dig his garden, there may be something hidden in the rambling maze of GI’s work to interest magickians.

Friday 29th is Black Friday with the Church of Satan’s Gavin Baddeley. Not impressed last time I saw him. Even if he met La Vey, the emphasis he places is on the jaded carnival side of Satanism and not on Magick. Still, a good way to start a riotous night drinking in Brighton. Harmless fun with horns on.

Saturday 30th is the Warped World of Ken Campbell. English comedian and actor promising leftfield freakery.

The events are put on by Hexagon who are not AFAIK members of any order or pushing any dogma. More info on tickets and venues at www.occulture.tv . I’d suggest you buy in advance as some of the venues are on the tiny side.
