Aleister Crowley's “next book, a collection of devotional poems to the Virgin Mary, appeared. The title came from the 'password' Crowley had chosen randomly at the autumnal equinox of 1907 when the book was written: Amphora. The book was anonymous, 'Privately printed for the Authoress and her intimates' by the Arden Press.”—Richard Kaczynski, Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley 1556438990; see Virgin Mary, 1907, Word of the Equinox, Amphora
