Joss Whedon is known for his quirky offbeat humor. It made Buffy the Vampire Slayer a cult classic, and made fanboy's wish for more when it came to Firefly and Serenity. Now, Whedon has teamed with Firefly and Serenity star Nathan Fillion, and recent offbeat humor golden boy Neil Patrick Harris to put together Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog - an Internet musical in three parts.

The concept alone in worthy of praise and interest.

Dr. Horrible tells the story of an evil wannabe villain who video blogs, experiments and takes regular lessons from a voice coach to perfect his evil cackle. Director Joss Whedon came up with the idea for the musical during the Hollywood writers' strike earlier this year.

Shot over six days on a small budget, Dr. Horrible will play online starting Tuesday (today) in three short segments through July 20. After that, viewers can pay to download through iTunes or purchase a DVD jampacked with extras. Act I is available now, with Act II set for Thursday and Act III available on Saturday. You can view the trailer to the musical below, or move on over to the official web site and watch Act I right now.
